What we like

This is model is Pro Breeze’s answer to the desiccant dehumidifier. The desiccant dehumidifier is a better option in rooms that are likely to be below 15ºC such as garages, utility rooms and basements.

We like this model because it has great specifications for the price. It is the ideal candidate for garages, basements and chilly hallways.

Desiccant vs Compressor

A quick note before we continue, most dehumidifiers fall into the category of desiccant or compressor types. Meaco has produced an excellent guide on the differences between the two. The Pro Breeze 12L and 20L are both compressor types. This means they operate best in environments above 4-5 Celsius and ideally 15 Celsius.

Compressors rely on maintaining a colder internal temperature than the outside air, this makes cold environments a problem for compressor types as they have to spend time defrosting their interiors if outside temperatures are too cold.

Desiccant dehumidifiers rely on a desiccant material sucking moisture from the air before depositing the moisture and then being regenerated via a heat fan. This makes desiccant dehumidifiers effective at a wide range of temperatures but they are especially good for temperatures below 15 Celsius. If you need a dehumidifier for a room that will likely be below 15 Celsius most of the time then please consider buying a desiccant version. This usually applies to basements, cellars, garages, chilly hallways, etc.

Many buyers are unaware of this key factor which has caused some people to buy the wrong dehumidifier for their needs. We care about our readers and want to help you make the most informed purchase possible.

Performance

This model has a 10L/day moisture extraction capacity and a massive 3L water tank. It might have a lower extraction rate than the Pro Breeze 12L and 20L but due to it being a desiccant dehumidifier, it will drastically outperform BOTH of these models in low temperatures. A 10L extraction rate can still be considered on the larger end for desiccant types.

That is why we recommend this model for colder rooms and environments, it also has the additional benefit of expelling warmed air whereas compressor types expel slightly cooled air. This means you could end up spending less on heating because this model does half the job for you, ideal for conservatories in winter.

Features

The 10L desiccant has a Digital control panel, this has controls for air outlet direction, timer, fan speed, target humidity, power and room humidity indicator. This is a great feature you would expect at this price point. This model does not have a dedicated laundry mode however you can put the fan speed to max and swing the air outlet to point at your laundry. This will blow warm dry air onto your washing and dry it quickly.

One unique aspect of this model is the antibacterial, Nano-Silver filter. This works by releasing silver ions into the surrounding air which have been shown to combat bacteria, viruses, fungi and spores, great for improving indoor air quality. Similarly to the other Pro Breeze models, this one also includes the continuous drainage hose. This is particularly useful for rooms such as garages and basements which you may not want to frequently visit during the colder months.

Pro Breeze 10L Desiccant Dehumidifier

This model boasts 2 power settings, High – 680 Watts and Low – 370 Watts. This gives you great customization when it comes to power usage. This is also ideal when leaving the dehumidifier switched on for long periods as you can make it more energy-efficient. It should be noted that this model uses more power than the other two models.

Ratings

A significant amount of purchasers confirmed that the product helped them get rid of widespread damp and condensation issues. Many people also said that the product worked great in colder rooms. The warm air the model blows out was seen as a welcome benefit. Lots of people commented on the quietness of the product compared to compressor dehumidifiers.

Some users commented that as the product has no auto-on feature it was difficult to dry laundry due to the product switching off once a target humidity was reached. Other users commented that the dehumidifier was too noisy to sleep in the same room as. This is expected with larger dehumidifiers however as only more expensive premium brands produce large and quiet dehumidifiers.

Value

We think this product offers great value for money provided you use it for its intended use, colder environments. In an environment regularly below 15 Celsius, this model offers the best value out of all the Pro Breeze models. If you need it for a cold space then this is without a doubt, the model for you. If you are looking for a dehumidifier for a room regularly at or around room temperature, then we believe the Pro Breeze 12L or 20L offer better value as they will function more efficiently.

I don’t understand how a continuous drainage hose would work. What would it drain into? Does it have to be used, or can the unit be emptied another way? Thank you

Cannot understand why people hang damp laundry in their homes, then use a highly-inefficient way of extracting moisture from the air. Have they never heard of condensing or piped tumble-driers? Far more efficient and minimises household damp and it’s associated issues to both to house and health.
