If you are looking to improve the quality of air in your house, this ElectriQ 12L dehumidifier is for you. It’s a known fact that an overly humid atmosphere can cause bad odours and can lead to respiratory problems such as allergies and asthma flare-ups. Also, harmful bacteria, viruses, and dust mites thrive in above 60% relative humidity, thus posing a threat to your health. Additionally, a damp atmosphere accelerates mould growth that can destroy furniture, structures, and various household items.
To prevent such problems, it is advisable to consider using a dehumidifier such as the ElectriQ 12L. With many people buying this gadget and giving it positive reviews, we have decided to do some research and give our honest opinion of this high-end dehumidifier.

Features
There are several brands of 12L dehumidifier, but the ElectriQ 12L dehumidifier stands tall. It features a wide array of features that aren’t found in standard 12L dehumidifiers. Below are some of its outstanding features.
2.5L water tank
One of the main features of this device is the inclusion of a large 2.5-litre water tank that collects the condensed water. The unit includes a hosepipe to connect to a drainage system, allowing you to never have to empty the water tank. If this is not possible, there is the water tank option. This large capacity water tank ensures you have to empty it less frequently. Additionally, this reservoir has antibacterial properties, which prevent pathogen build-up.
Automatic defrost
Because compressor dehumidifiers operate several degrees below room temperature, they tend to freeze in cold environments. For this reason, the manufacturer has included a smart automatic defrost function in this machine. The technology behind this inclusion is to prevent ice build-up on the evaporator coils. This intelligent defrost protects the unit, keeping it at optimum functionality for a long time.
Built-in timer
Another amazing feature is the presence of a timer that ensures you are totally in control of your dehumidifier. This 24-hour timer helps you control the speed of the fan whenever you want. With it, you can even set when the dehumidifier will turn on or off.
Active carbon filters
As we said earlier, mildew and mould can cause respiratory hazards. Keeping this in mind, the manufacturer of the ElectriQ 12L dehumidifier has included high-quality active carbon filters to remove these pollutants from the air. This in turn ensures fresh, mould free air all day long.
What’s more, the unit includes a space for fitting HEPA air filters (which you can purchase). These filters trap dust mite and pollen with an efficiency of 99.97%.
Full tank alarm
Unlike other standard dehumidifiers, with the ElectriQ 12L dehumidifier you do not need to worry about spillages. The machine features an audible full tank alarm that goes off when the tank collects water to its maximum capacity. There is also a LED light that starts to flash, and the device turns itself off automatically. After this, it can only resume functions when the tank is emptied.
Laundry drying mode
Now the most amazing feature is the clothes drying mode. If you like hanging wet clothes in the house, this device can help you a great deal. To use this mode, you just need to set the machine to its lower setting of 35% and your clothes will dry much faster.
How to use ElectriQ 12L Dehumidifier
This handy gadget is easy to use. Simply connect the 1.5M cable to the mains, then switch the device on using the on/off button on the control panel. Normally, the device starts with the factory setting mode of 55% humidity but you can set to as low as 35%.
The ElectriQ 12L dehumidifier display has six easy to operate button, plus an LED light display that indicates the current humidity level via colour changes as follows;
- Red – high humidity
- Amber – comfortable level humidity
- Green – dry air
You can then choose to use the 2.5L water tank or the provided continuous drainage hose.
Alternatives to the ElectriQ 12L Dehumidifier
Netta Dehumidifier
This dehumidifier is one of the most common models. It is effective in removing up to 12L of water a day from the air. The device features a 1.5L reservoir tank that has an automatic shut off when the maximum capacity is reached. It comes with an adjustable humidity control feature that helps you set your humidity extraction between 40% to 80%. Also, it features remarkable features such as overflow hose pipe for continuous flow, 24-hour time for easy control, and castor wheel for portability, making it ideal for large homes and offices.

Have had the electriq 12 L for almost two years and I have NEVER had any water in the tankā¦. WHY please ???
Try resetting the dehumidifier by disconnecting power to the unit for 30 seconds. After that re-connect the power and set the control settings. 2 years is a long time, if it was faulty you could have returned it on warranty. We wrote an article about possible problems here.
